Wedding of the year: RM1.8mil jewellery for Siti

The accessories include custom-made pearl tiara, necklace, bracelets, ring and a pair of earrings, all diamond-studded.

This does not include the tiny white pearls that will be stitched on Siti’s evening wedding gown designed by Khoon Hooi.

Hooi is also designing matching shoes and hand fan that Siti will use during her horse-drawn carriage as part of the parade for her fans.

Rafflesia The Pearl Centre director Winnie Sin when last Friday during the Miss Rafflesia Gala Night at the Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur, said the company would be sponsoring Siti’s pearl accessories which are imported from the Australia South Sea.

“We are delighted to sponsor Siti’s bridal accessories for her reception so that she will look elegant and glamorous on her memorable day,” she said.

Hooi’s wedding gown for Siti, said to be worth RM50,000, will be made of a cream coloured imported Italian silk Duchess satin, complete with a three-metre veil stitched with pearls.

Datuk Khalid Mohd Jiwa, better known as ‘Datuk K’, will be wearing a dark grey summer wool tuxedo with a cream vest, shirt and tie, also designed by Khoon Hooi.

Datuk K’s tuxedo, worth RM8,000, is also a wedding gift from Hooi.

“Siti had the gown fitting last Thursday. She loved the classic and simple design as well as the dress cut. It was a challenge for me to design a wedding dress for Siti, given the short time and her personality. This will be my treasured design, and a gift to Siti for her wedding,” said Hooi.

Rafflesia is also preparing pearl cufflinks and buttons for Datuk K’s tuxedo.

The couple will perform their ‘akad nikah’ (solemnisation) ceremony at the Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan in Jalan Duta on Aug 21.

Dubbed ‘Wedding of the Year’, Siti’s parade on a horse-drawn carriage to the KLCC entrance is at 5pm on Aug 28.

A reception will be held at Siti’s hometown in Kuala Lipis on Sept 3 and another in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Sept 10.

Other celebrity designers enlisted to design Siti’s wedding clothes are Radzuan Radziwill, Michael Ong, Natrah Hisham of Embun Timeless Tradition and Indonesian designer Anna Avanti.
